Dr. Jordan Frith Publishes Second Book

Jordan Frith, Assistant Professor in the Department of Technical Communication, recently published his second book Smartphones as Locative Media. The book is part of the Digital Media & Society series, and looks at the social impacts of the widespread adoption of smartphone technology. In particular, the book focuses on how smartphones are increasingly used to retrieve information about people nearby physical space. Through analyses of popular applications such as Google Maps, Facebook, Waze, and Yelp, Jordan shows how digital, social information is increasingly becoming a new way people engage with and learn about physical space.
