Technical Communication Faculty Visit Japan

Two faculty from the Department of Technical Communication at the University of North Texas were invited to speak at an event at the University of Aizu in Aizuwakamatsu, Japan. The event was held by the Association for Computing Machinery's (ACM) Chapter on E-Learning and Technical Communication.

Dr. Friess, an expert in usability and user experience research, was invited to speak to a group of students about the foundations of usability. Her talk allowed students to explore the principles of usability testing and included an engaging think-aloud protocol activity. Dr. Lam, whose research focuses on teamwork and computer-mediated communication, was invited to speak to a group of students about utilizing technology to manage communication in teams. His talk presented some of his research on teamwork and included a team Lego building activity.

The event allowed UNT faculty from the Department of Technical Communication to broaden their international relationship with the University of Aizu. Future collaborations with the university will continue to bring international recognition to the department.
