Bio: Kathryn Raign received her PhD in English, with a specialization in Rhetoric and Composition, from Texas Christian University in 1989. She began working at UNT in 1990. After receiving tenure, Dr. Raign began serving as the director of the composition program, a position she held until fall 2008, when she stepped down to serve as the director of the UNT Student Writing Lab, a position she held until 2014. She is the author of four books: Harbrace Guide to the Teaching of Introductory Composition, The Decisive Writer, Write Now, and Writing for Results (2nd ed). She has published in a variety of journals including Technical Communication Quarterly, Rhetoric Society Quarterly, and Praxis.
