TC Professor, Dr. Erin Friess, Wins Prestigious Research Award

Dr. Erin Friess, an associate professor in UNT's Department of Technical Communication, has won the 2016 Rudolph J. Joenk, Jr. Award for her article "Personas in Heuristic Evaluation: An Exploratory Study." The Joenk Award is given by the IEEE Professional Communication Society to the author of the best paper published in the most recent volume of IEEE Transactions on Professional Communication. In her article, Dr. Friess explored how usability findings varied among groups of evaluators who conducted heuristic evaluations with and without personas. Dr. Friess will receive her award at the International ProComm 2016 Conference in Austin, TX in October and will give a plenary talk about her research.
